The key is using a no-wash lab protocol—we use one of the only labs that doesn’t wash samples at their facility, preserving true mineral content.
How long does it take to get results?
You can expect to have your test results within 10 business days after mailing your hair sample. The lab processes results within 5 business days of receiving your sample. You’ll receive an email notification when your report is ready.
Can I test my child?
Absolutely! HTMA is non-invasive and safe for all ages, including infants. Many parents use it to uncover root causes of behavioral issues, developmental delays, picky eating, frequent illness, or difficulty concentrating. Hair collection takes 5 minutes and is completely painless.
What if I recently dyed or chemically treated my hair?
Some dyes contain minerals, so it’s best to take the sample before dyeing your hair or allow the hair to grow out an inch or so before sampling. Permanents and bleach treatments damage the structure of the hair, so it’s best to allow the hair to grow out an inch or more before taking a sample. We test the hair closest to your scalp (new growth), which reflects your current mineral status.
Do I need to stop taking supplements before my test?
No—please don’t stop anything. Test while taking your current supplements so we can see what your body is actually utilizing versus eliminating.
Do you ship internationally?

Does this test collect or store my DNA?
No. Our laboratory partner uses ICP-MS technology that only measures minerals and metals—it cannot analyze genetic material. During testing, your hair sample is completely dissolved in acid, destroying all biological material including DNA. Nothing is stored or preserved. You can be confident your sample is used only for mineral analysis.
